Adrenotone Plus

There is a great deal of controversy in the medical field about "Adrenal Fatigue". Indeed, if your adrenals were totally burned out and not functioning, you wouldn't be either--you'd be dead.  Besides the very important jobs of regulating blood pressure, heart rate and blood sugar levels, the adrenal function to help us survive in the face of stress. They respond to all kinds of stress--physical, emotional, perceived, psychological, environmental, and most often, a combination of all of these things. Although full blown adrenal disease (Addisons--too little, Cushings--too much) is uncommon, I believe adrenal dysfunction, or sub-optimal adrenal function is very common.

The optimal function of the adrenal glands is important in the optimal functioning of thyroid hormone and our sex steroids (estrogen, progestrone, and testosterone.) All of the conferences I have attended lately recommend addressing the adrenal gland first, or at least concominantly, when treating hormone balance. I diagnose adrenal dysfunction by listening to the patient symptoms and by doing lab studies for cortisol and DHEA.

If you have been diagnosed with adrenal dysfunction, the ultimate therapy lies in changes in lifestyle including diet, exercise, sleep, exposure to environmental toxins and stress management. Adrenotone Plus is an adrenal support vitamin containing both the nutrients important for optimal adrenal health (Vitamin B and Vitamin C) as well as herbal adaptogens which help balance adrenal function. In 1947, Dr. Nikolai Lazaren defined an adaptogen, "as an agent that allows the body to counter adverse physical, chemical, or biological stressors by raising nonspecific resistance toward such stress, thus allowing the organism to 'adapt' to the stressful circumstance." This definition still holds true for today, but now also includes an ability to balance endocrine hormones and the immune system. Adrenotone Plus does not contain glandulars so is a safe supplement for almost anyone diagnosed with mild adrenal dysfunction. It does contain licorice (the herb, not the candy) which can affect blood pressure so patients with high blood pressure should be under the supervision of a practitioner while using this.
